This Pelikan 910 sterling silver fountain pen was produced between from 1992-1999 and would be classed as the old style model as later  models were produced. The pen is in near mint condition and is  fitted with a medium bi colour 18ct gold nib and come with a presentation box

Peilkan first used this very slow Toldeo engraving  technique to embellish their pens in the early 1930’s and continues  to do so today  in Germany. The effect is achieved by engraving  a pattern into a steel surface, next, a thin sheet of gold or silver is placed over the pattern and is embossed deep into the material to highlight the pattern, the sleeve is then heated to a very high temperature  to the point where  the steel surfaces dioxides  and turns  black, leaving the gold or the silver retain its original colour. The origins of this craft can be traced back hundreds of years to the Arabs and found its way to the Spanish city of Toldeo which was very famous for its patterned sword making using.
